Vegetarian & Vegan, Done Right
Voted Best Vegan/Vegetarian in New Braunfels seven years running by the Herald-Zeitung Best of New Braunfels Readers' Choice Awards, 2020 through 2026. That's not an accident. Indian food already leans vegetarian — our kitchen leans all the way in.
Every base sauce is made fresh every morning, vegetarian and gluten-free from the start. Not a substitution, not a workaround. It's how the kitchen already runs.
A Menu Built for the Table, Not Around It
Ask for the vegetarian menu somewhere else and you often get one sad section at the bottom of the page. Here, it's the engine of the kitchen. Our most-ordered classic dish, Good Ol' Saag Paneer, is vegetarian. So is Dad's Signature Aloo Gobi, a fan favorite. Malai Kofta, Yogi Matt's Daal, Homestyle Saag Chana, Missy's Aloo Mattar, Crazy Good Hummus — these dishes are named after our own family and regulars, not pulled off a trend report.
If you're vegan, ask your server which dishes can be made plant-based — many of our curries and sides already are, built on the same fresh, dairy-free base sauces we make every morning.
You don't have to ask if there's "anything you can eat" here. There's a whole menu built around exactly that question already answered.
FAQ
Is 7 Monk's a vegetarian restaurant?
No — we serve meat and seafood too. But we've built an unusually deep vegetarian and vegan menu because Indian food naturally lends itself to it, and it shows: we've won Best Vegan/Vegetarian in New Braunfels seven years running.
What are your most popular vegetarian dishes?
Good Ol' Saag Paneer (our most-ordered classic), Dad's Signature Aloo Gobi, Malai Kofta, and Crazy Good Hummus.
Do you have vegan options?
Yes. Ask your server which dishes can be made vegan — many of our curries and sides are naturally plant-based, built on base sauces made fresh every morning.
Are your sauces vegetarian?
Every base sauce is made fresh every morning and built vegetarian and gluten-free from the start, not adjusted after the fact.
Why do so many vegetarians and vegans choose 7 Monk's?
Because the kitchen isn't accommodating them as an afterthought. Indian food already leans vegetarian, and that's the whole starting point here, not a side menu.
